Prawn (Chemmen) Curry

Marination

Ingredients : Chilly powder, Turmeric powder, curry leaves, salt, oil and Prawns

  1. Mix chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt with oil to a paste. To this paste add few curry leaves.
  2. Add prawns to this and mix well until the prawns are covered with the paste.
  3. Allow the prawn to marinate for 30 minutes

Cooking the gravy

Ingredients: Coconut, ginger, green chilly, mango, curry leaves

  1. Grind the coconut, ginger and chilly to a smooth paste
  2. Cut the raw mangoes into cubes and boil it until soft
  3. Now add the ground coconut paste and bit of curry leaves.
  4. Add sufficient water and salt as required
  5. Allow this to boil until the prawns are fully cooked.

Seasoning

Ingredients: Shallots, Oil and red chilly powder

  1. Clean the shallots and slice it to small pieces
  2. Add oil to a seasoning pan and heat it
  3. As the oil heats up add the sliced shallot, chilly powder and stir till it turns brown
  4. Cut off the flame and add this seasoned shallot to the cooked gravy
